While flying over the Pacific Ocean, Amelia Earhart's plane disappears and neither her or the plane is ever found. Author Ernest Hemingway commits suicide;in 1961 by shooting himself at his home in Idaho. On July 2, 1881, President Garfield was shot, leading to his death two and a half months later.
